Monogrammed Origami Bookmark

This project was taken from a video on YouTube (found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fggt8cqjC9c)

It starts with any size square and I found that starting with a 6"x6" square works best for the final bookmark size I like. Maybe this will inspire me to read a book.

Shown marking the page

Here is one I made based off of other monster bookmarks I saw.

Congratulations- Baby Girl Card

This card was created for my cousin and his wife who are expecting their first baby in September. She had a beautiful baby shower yesterday and received many pink and ruffled covered items...too fun! I sat and made this card the morning of her shower and knew I had to get to the store to buy a gift bag (I know...I'm lazy on the wrapping bit). I paid for being lazy...almost $5 for the gift bag. So I took a peek at the card section prices and all I can say is that I KNOW my card didn't cost the price of those. The plan from now on is to buy gifts (or gift cards) that can go in the card or in a bag-a-lope (a bag made from an envelope)...then I could coordinated the bag too!

I thought the pinks and grays turned out looking nice together. As a small detail on the scalloped piece, I used my paper piercer to punch the holes.

I used my square punch on the end of the Congratulations
The overall card is  5"x5". Working with a square card is a nice change.
Any stamp or punch baby related can go in the circle.

Matching Matchbooks

This is a Kansas weekend that will be remembered for our small surrounding communities and rural farmsteads. Saturday afternoon and evening I was between my craft room and the basement for tornado warnings twice. The second time, a large wedge tornado {as reported on the scanner} was just 1 mile west of our house. This happened after dark & there was NO way I was about to come out of the basement. The wind whistled through the windows and doors like I have never heard. Our damage was limited to a power pole broke off at the bottom, a few limbs down and the loss of a couple of surge protectors in the house (they did their job!).

The tornado hit many farms north and south of town on a NE path and my prayers go out to the families that have experienced devastating losses. A couple of farms lost both the home and all the out buildings. Mr. Hubby is an electrician and plumber and we were out all day yesterday trying to provide the immediate repairs so people could have power and water. To see all the people come together to help in anyway they can makes me proud to live where I do. It is the true definition of community. The cleanup will continue for a long time.

On to a happier note...I finished a Post-It Note project this evening and would like to share it with you.
